Passports and Visas

If a person has any intention of leaving the country that they were born in, they are going to need a passport. This is a document that contains a great deal of information and will be inspected when a person arrives into a new country and probably again when they are leaving. Even if the person does not ever intend on leaving the country it still does not hurt for them to have a passport which can serve as another form of identification.

Many people make the mistake of assuming that a passport and a visa are the exact same things. This is not the case at all. A passport is simply a form of documentation that allows a person to travel from one country to another. A visa is a document that allows the person so reside in a country other than the one of their birth. Different visas are issued for different reasons.

Some visas are work visas. The rules allowing a person to get one of these can vary from one country to the next. In most cases, the person has to be able to prove that they already have a job lined up for them in the other country. Most work visas are invalid if the person loses their job. If this happens the individual has to be out of the country in a specific number of days.

Other people are admitted into countries on a student visa. This type of visa works the same way as a work visa but it means that the person is only dealing with their education. Many students use a student visa to get into a country and then use that time to look for a job so that they can get a work visa.

If a person can prove that they have an investment in a country, they can be issued an investors visa. This is very common for farmers. A farmer in one country finds someone who is willing to help them start a farm. Once all the paperwork has been filed and the farmer can prove that they have a farm, they can apply for the investor’s visa. This visa will allow them to stay in the country for several years. At the end of the visa they will have to prove that their investment is still valid and apply for another investor’s visa.

It does not matter if an individual is applying for a visa or a passport, there is going to be some paperwork involved, as well as some time. The person needs to apply well in advance. They do not want to wait until they are scheduled to leave to start the application process, which can sometimes take months to complete. When the person is filling out their application for either a passport of a visa they want to read through all the paperwork very carefully and make sure that they are doing things correctly. If the person is denied, they should be told why. Normally the denial is due to a mistake on the application and the individual will have to go through the entire process all over again.
