Attaching Labels to Poker Players

Poker players each have their own method for playing the game of poker. Over time regular players have come up with terms to describe the type of player. Knowing the label that is attached to the player will help the other players who are at the table means that they will be able to adjust their own style of play accordingly.

The other Poker players who are at a poker table love nothing more than learning that the new player who has sat down at their table is a fish. A fish is a label that is reserved for players who are incredibly bad players. The reason that the other players love to have a fish at the table, is because this type of person seems to have a knack for making the absolute worst possible calls. A fish is usually are person who loses their entire bankroll and ends up leaving the table angry and broke.

A tight player tends to irritate other poker players. This is a player who has read a few books or watched a couple of instructional videos. This information has managed to provide the player a little knowledge of the game but very little imagination. They play a tight game, but do not use any real sense of strategy. A tight player is someone who is usually able to play very well when they are playing at a table with very low stakes, however when they move to a table with higher stakes and better players, they usually find that they are outclassed.

Players who routinely win hands are often a type of a player who is called a tight aggressive player. What separates these players from the other tight players is their aggression. The other thing that separates them is how well they know to use the hand they have been dealt to their advantage. This type of player usually comes out ahead in the game mostly because they have a very good sense to know what hands they should play, and when they need to fold.

Loose aggressive players can be bothersome at when they are at the table. At first glance this player does not seem to be a great player. Most of the time this is true. The typical loose aggressive player usually wins just enough hands to that they keep playing, but they in the long run they usually loose frequently. Once in a while a person is able to be a loose aggressive player who actually wins most of their hands. This player is rare, but has truly developed their playing style into a legitimate style that allows them to win. A good loose aggressive player is a force to be reckoned with.

The rarest type of player is the hyper aggressive player. This is the player that other players dread. This player is crazy. Other players fear them. The player plays with now fear and makes choices that other players would never dare to take. The hyper aggressive player wins, but usually because the rest of the players at the table are terrified that the player might actually have a monster hand.
